Welcome to the Home Page
of Cathie Whittaker and Kelvin Faulkner.
The prefix Barkly came into existence almost 37 years
ago. We had agreed to help a dear old friend with her wildly exuberant wooligan juveniles way back in
1970, but little did we realise how far reaching this
was to be.
Our commitment to the breed has developed over the
years and clarified into a mission statement for excellence:
a) Barkly Beardies to be noted for sound temperament,
by careful parent selection and good rearing principles.
b) To
strive to ensure the continued existence of true breed type as we believe it
should be; long, lithe and athletic with strong bone and good character.
c) To endeavour to promote the interests and welfare of the
Bearded Collie without favour or prejudice, in the
knowledge that none of us is GOD.
d) To
learn to live with the knowledge that people with different opinions to ours
are not necessarily idiots, just interesting.
